Movies in Charlevoix and Spring Break Follow up!

11 03 2010

Got some nice calls this morning from folks who were in Charlevoix for the filming of a small independent film staring Big Kenny from Big and Rich! I understand they have been filming for several days…and maybe even a few more!

Yesterday I brought up the topic of how people are pulling their kids out of school early to go on spring break. It seems the problem is a growing one as I got emails and calls from Listeners.

The Forbes Richest person list was announced and Bill Gates isn’t #1 any more. Here is how the topic went.

Humpday Wednesday

10 03 2010

Another busy show today and I really like it that way. Chatted a bit about spring breaks and in my opinion folks are getting carried away with the idea of a trip and forgetting about the education. Folks are leaving earlier and earlier taking time off. Thursday I will read a letter from a teacher who heard my rant this morning.  So it will be interesting to see where it goes from there.  Here by the way is the rant….

Colleen will be learning to ski Thursday. Scott Stillings is a great guy and a lover of skiing. Having done so professionally and has taught it for years. He discusses how easy it has become to learn to ski.  Believe it or not!

See you in the morning!!

UFO’s over the lake!

9 03 2010

The great weather continued for another day, that is great. Even if we get some much-needed rain I think it will be ok. The last 10 days have been a blessing. This morning we had fun with all the events of the day.

Outdoors guy Mark Romanack reminded us that the end of the Month fishing licenses expire so make sure you are up to date. Also there is a fella in Ohio claiming to see UFO”s over Lake Erie. The following is the story. Check it out…you decide!

Also some stories in the news….and some humble commentary on my part :)

Monday moan’in!

8 03 2010

Hope you had a great weekend. The sunshine was GREAT. I think it has us all thinking spring. Daylight savings time returns this Sunday at 2am. That will keep the sun up later and I think it feels good.

Today we talked about the Oscars. What do you think, I enjoyed them this year. I thought Martin and Baldwin did a good job keeping it moving and fun. I also thought that asking the winners not to “thank” everyone. But take a moment and talk about what the win meant to the them was a brilliant stroke. I enjoyed even the nobodys that won!

Brad Paisley took a spill at a show this weekend. At the hospital afterward he posed for pictures with the staff. Here’s the video:

Tuesday morning Mark Romanack will be along to talk outdoor stuff! See you then.

Friday fun on the Morning show!

5 03 2010

I hope everyone has some fun things planned for the weekend ahead. This morning we had a good time. With the Oscars this Sunday we wanted to find a Hollywood story and it turns out that Jodee Randal lives in Northern Michigan and designs baby clothes for the stars! We chatted with her this morning…

The website is  www.izzybitzy.com

Our weekly Survivor chat went in a different direction and Colleen found out she was sort of on her own little island…well her and Coach any way…listen in….

Skunks = Spring?

4 03 2010

It’s true..forget the robin. When the smell of the skunk is felt across the land spring is around the corner…

This next bit of audio is our discussion of the kid that was let into the JFK airport control tower. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Ok I saw this video and I love cats so have a good chuckle. I WARN YOU…I did not search elsewhere on this site. It seemed ok but I have no idea what else might be there. But enjoy the fat cat! http://www.buzzfeed.com/awesomer/fat-cat/

From Toll roads to the moon and sleeping at work!

3 03 2010

It was a fun Wednesday morning on WTCM Today’s Country Music. If you missed it here are some highlights.

Paying for roads and repair in this state come from fees/taxes. The state is looking at maybe and old idea but never tried here. Toll Roads:

Jerry Dobek from NMC’s Rogers Observatory’s weekly visit involved discussion of the Chili earthquake.

Here is a fun link…how to get a nap at work!

From Dr. Seuss to Dancing with the Stars!!

2 03 2010

A fun day today on the old radio! ABC TV’s Dancing with the stars announced their cast for the upcoming edition beginning March 22nd. Here’s a rundown…with commentary!!

A fun conversation with Westwoods Elementary Principal Sander Scott today. The school was celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Mr. Scott was in character!!

Last week we announced that our longtime weather guy Greg MacMaster was going to dedicate his time to some other endeavours and would be leaving the station as our weather guy. Monday we debut TV 9 and 10 Meteorologist Tom O’Hare to the morning show. Today we took a few minutes to get to know Tom…here’s how that went.

Wednesday we are going to follow the day’s events and chat about the possibility of Toll Roads coming to Michigan. It should be an interesting discussion!  See you in the morning.

Kiss in Cadillac and the GPS Lady!

1 03 2010

Don’t know if you saw it but ESPN TV did a nice feature on the 35th anniversary of the rock band KISS visiting Cadillac. Great calls today from folks who remember it! Here’s the link:

And a BIG welcome to the morning show for TV 9&10 Chief  Meteorologist Tom O’Hare. He will be covering the weather for the Morning show. Tuesday we will set aside some time to visit with Tom to find out a little bit more about him.  Enjoy the links…and see you Tuesday!

Morning Show Fun & Greg MacMaster

26 02 2010

Wow what a wacky morning this was. Friday’s always are, but with the Olympic’s the weather and all the other good stuff going on. I hope if you were listening it was as much fun for you.

Some Highlights—–

Being a native Detroiter I still love the city and I hate all the jokes…but unfortuneatly the City deserves most of it. That is why  so far I’m thrilled with Mayor Dave Bing he appears to actually have the GUTS to do what’s right! Here’s the article I read on the air….

Our weekly Survivor chat included Yau-man Chan from Survivor Fuji, it was fun!!

And our “one more thing” segment was about a study of why we have “tip of the tongue” moments were we can’t remember “that word”

And on a closing note…Greg MacMaster signed off today as our Meteorologist after 15 years with us. He’s got other irons in the fire…we wish him well. He will always be a friend and welcome at WTCM! Thanks Greg!
